Confessions of a first-time eBay’er

In Day-to-Day on July 13, 2008 at 7:16 pm

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I had never done eBay before. Dave has an account and like other things he handles, I guess I figured that meant I never had to figure it out. But then cleaned out my closet and got antsy to get rid of some things. And some extra cash for vacation would be nice.

Here’s what I learned. Name-brand gets attention. You never really know what’s going to sell and what isn’t. I thought I’d have some takers for my Fluevog shoes, but never thought I’d get more than $100 out of them. Woohoo! On the other hand, I thought Disney fanatics near and far would flock to the sequin Mickey clutches I bought during my days as a Walt Disney World intern.  Lesson learned… unless you’re okay accepting 99 cents for something,  list it with a minimum bid.

All and all, that was a fun experiment. Surprisingly good $ on one item, not so much on the 4 other things I listed.
